What if you were told that Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, might trade the complexities of running a tech giant for the simplicity of cattle ranching? It seems that Zuckerberg’s daughter already thinks that’s his primary job.
Zuckerberg: The Tech Billionaire Turned Cattle Rancher?
During a recent chat with Morning Brew Daily, the Facebook cofounder shared that his daughter, for a while, believed he was a cattle rancher. This misunderstanding isn’t entirely baseless. Zuckerberg’s latest obsession centres around raising and producing some of the finest beef on the planet, not for commercial sale, but for personal consumption.
On Ko’olau Ranch, a property Zuckerberg owns on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, he’s raising wagyu and angus cattle. His Instagram post from last month shared his ambitious goal: “Started raising cattle at Ko’olau Ranch on Kauai, and my goal is to create some of the highest quality beef in the world. The cattle are wagyu and angus, and they’ll grow up eating macadamia meal and drinking beer that we grow and produce here on the ranch.”
Globally Famous Tech CEO’s Enthusiasm for Farm Life
Embracing farm life to the fullest, Zuckerberg is utilizing the vast 1,400 acres he owns on the island, as revealed in a Wired investigation. The tech tycoon’s spokesperson informed that less than one percent of the land is developed, with most of it dedicated to farming, ranching, conservation, open spaces, and wildlife preservation.
“We want the whole process to be local and vertically integrated,” Zuckerberg shared on Instagram. The Meta CEO also mentioned that his daughters help plant the macadamia trees and take care of the animals, making it a family affair. It seems that Zuckerberg is enjoying every bit of this journey, as he hinted at a potential future venture, “Mark’s Meats,” if he ever decided to leave Meta.
From Metaverse to Macadamias: A Simplified Perspective
While the concept of Meta, incorporating Facebook, Instagram, and the metaverse, might be hard for a child to comprehend, running a cattle ranch is a concept easy to grasp. Zuckerberg finds it super fun as he expressed, “It’s like, ‘Alright, let’s brew our own beer. Let’s grow our own macadamia nuts.'” This hands-on experience is something his children can partake in, making it a more tangible learning experience than being involved in the software business.
So, while the world knows Mark Zuckerberg as a tech visionary, it seems his daughters might know him best as a rancher. Who knows, maybe in the future, we’ll be hearing about Mark’s Meats instead of Meta. For now, though, Zuckerberg continues to juggle both worlds while brewing his own beer and growing his own macadamia nuts.
